Meet Emily Brown – Life, Body & Soul Notes June 2017

My name is:     Emily Brown

Business:           Emily Brown Photography

Location:           Paddock Wood

  1. What do you love about what you do?

Being a photographer is such a fun and fulfilling job, especially when you work with children like I do. I love being able to provide families and couples with memories that will last a lifetime and can be passed down through the generations.

  1. What did you want to be when you grew up?

I have always loved the arts and had a deep respect for the ocean, so when I was younger I wanted to be either an actress  or marine biologist. Luckily I am able to incorporate these other passions into my sessions by putting together themed projects or photographing underwater life, so I haven’t lost all connection with them.

  1. Who inspires you?

My biggest inspiration at the moment is Lisa Jacobs of Market Your Creativity. She singlehandedly turned $100 worth of jewellery supplies into a top-earning Etsy storefront and now uses her expertise to help business owners grow their brand and build professional recognition through a great blog and workbooks. She has an enthusiasm for teaching that gets me really motivated,  a lovely family that she supports in a beautiful home near the Blue Ridge Mountains, and I’d love to have a success story like hers one day.

  1. What is non negotiable in your week?

Being only two years into my full time business, I find it very easy to over work and subsequently burn out. This year I’ve been much more aware of having a good work-life balance and therefore time set aside for myself, friends and family is now non negotiable in my week. Being a family and wedding photographer means that I often work weekends, so I’m making sure that I now have two full days off each week. It’s super important to take time away from your desk to remain healthy and happy and maintain those important relationships in your life.

  1. Tell us one thing that not many people know about you!

It is my dream to own a Pug or French Bulldog (or both!) and name it Barry. I’m obsessed with dogs that have smooshy faces!

  1. Tell our Life, Body & Soul Notes readers your favourite tip to look after your body, live the life you love & have a soul fulfilled life.

My top tips to live a healthier, happier life would be to walk 10,000 steps and drink 2 litres of water every day. These are two small changes that I try to achieve each day and the results are noticeable as I feel more energetic and cleansed. Plus, they are quite achievable, so they fit nicely into any daily routine and can become second nature very quickly.

  1. What would you like your epitaph to read?

I would like to think that I would be remembered for making people happy and making them smile, both in front of the camera and in day to day life.
