My name is: Deborah Turner

Business: You Image Consultancy

Location: Rainham Kent

What do you love about what you do?
The opportunity to make a significant difference to women’s lives. People can under estimate the power of looking good. It isn’t just that when people look good they feel better, looking good genuinely changes their mood and so as a direct result they perform better. Seeing the difference, I make to women’s confidence is extremely rewarding. I love helping others learn to love themselves again.

I am passionate about helping other women to succeed in whatever path they choose. I want to ensure that we all reach our full potential and are not held back by anyone or anything including ourselves.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
At first a physiotherapist. I loved sport and still do but realised early on that although I was one of the best in my school at many sports I was never going to compete at international level. It was just competing that I loved, I liked reading about sport, watching sport and being involved with sport. I though being a physio would open up doors for me to travel with national teams and be part of the sporting world. Unfortunately, my school’s science programme was not suitable for direct access into physiotherapy and it wasn’t my strongest subject so I looked at other career options.

Finding Image Consultancy as a career change 7 years ago released my creativity that I had hidden for many years. Being able to be the real me everyday is incredible. Showing people the importance of being genuine, being true and presenting the best version of your self is empowering.

Who inspires you?
Everyone! Everyone has a different story to tell and people in general amaze me everyday.. I am very fortunate to meet many new people all the times both students, business owners, professionals, family, friends, clients, suppliers and I can honestly say I learn something new from at least someone I meet everyday.

What is non negotiable in your week?
Running in the morning. It clears my mind and body, it makes me a better person in every respect.

Planning my wardrobe at the start of the week. Walking the talk is essential for me.

Tell us one thing that not many people know about you!
I have been to Basecamp Everest and what an amazing trek and opportunity that was. We trekked in Nepal to Basepoint and saw Everest and the Himalayas in all their glory. It literally took my breath away and still does now when I think about the beautiful people and the breath-taking scenery. I would love to return.

Tell our Life, Body & Soul Notes readers your favourite tip to look after your body; live the life you love, and have a soul fulfilled life.
Drinking water. It keeps me well in every sense, my energy, my skin, my mind and my body. I start the day with a pint of hot water with fresh squeezed lemon and drink cucumber infused water the rest of the day. I always carry water with me and I always water with any meal. Don’t get me wrong I love wine but I always drink water as well to try and keep as hydrated as I can.

What would you like your epitaph to read?
She always looked amazing, even on her death bed! She had a very big heart and made a difference to others’ lives in a big and noisy way. She was memorable for all the right reasons and was always a little crazy which made her more loveable!
