If you’ve had energy healing or go to yoga you will be familiar with chakras. If not, you might be thinking what are chakras? I’m going to give you a brief overview and then share some techniques of how you can extend your self care to your chakras.
So if you like to eat organic food because you know it helps your physical body, and you like to go to the gym or exercise because it takes care of your physical body and your mental wellbeing, then you are going to LOVE knowing how to intentionally take care of your chakras.
What is a Chakra?
Chakra is a Sanskrit word for “wheel”.
Just like our physical body has organs, our energetic anatomy has energy “organs” that clairvoyantly look like spinning wheels. According to highly-trained clairvoyants, there are 11 Major Chakras and hundreds of minor ones.
The popular 7 chakra model is good for beginners on the spiritual and healing path. These key points in the subtle body that are thought to be vortexes of energy, are known as chakras. When energy becomes blocked in a chakra, it triggers physical, mental, or emotional imbalances that manifest in symptoms such as anxiety, lethargy, or poor digestion.
The first five chakras are associated with the physical elements earth, water, fire, air, and ether (or space). The last two chakras are thought to connect us beyond the earthly realm, so they are associated with the elements of light and cosmic energy.
However, to be able to properly access specific organs and heal severe ailments, as a Pranic healer I work through 11 Major chakras.
Here is your rough guide to the Chakras.
The Crown Chakra is located at the top of the skull, energizing and controlling the brain and the pineal gland. It deals with your connection to the divine within you and all around you. Physically it supports your central nervous system and deep brain functions. Your crown chakra may be weak if you:
Feel disconnected to a higher power; feeling of loneliness and insignificance; Are stuck in an unfulfilling and unrewarding career; Have a strong attachment to possessions and relationship and define yourself by what you have; migraines and tension headaches.
The Forehead Chakra is located in the center of the forehead, close to the hairline and deals with intuition and your sense of purpose and direction in life. Physically, it supports your upper frontal sinuses, eyes, ears and the outerlayers of your brain. Your third eye chakra may be weak if you: feel lost when it comes to having a sense of purpose in life; Are indecisive, uncommitted and unconfident of the decisions you make; Have an active imagination but not in a good way as you spend much of the day in an analytical mode; experience headaches and a feeling of tension in your brow area.
The Ajna Chakra is located between the eyebrows and controls the pituitary gland and endocrine system. The Ajna is also often mistakenly called the “third eye”, the forehead is actually the real third eye, but since in the mainstream we talk of just seven chakras, the Ajna is usually pinned as the “spiritual eye” or “third eye.” Cancer and AIDS patients usually have very weak ajna chakras.
The Throat Chakra is located at the Adam’s apple. The throat chakra is also connected to the sex chakra, as it is the upper center of creativity, while the sex chakra is the lower center of creativity. It deals with issues of honesty, integrity, truth, expression and communication. Physically it supports your neck, jaw, teeth, gums, mouth, lower sinus, throat and thyroid gland. Your throat chakra may be weak if you: Are often afraid to speak up and voice your opinions around others; settle with following other people’s opinions; Are likely to be the quiet one in your professional and social circles; experience sore throats, swollen glands, sinus problems, disorders of the throat, mouth, teeth or gums.
The Heart Chakra is in the center of the chest and has two aspects: a front and a back heart chakra. The front heart chakra is located directly on the sternum or breastbone. The heart chakra controls the heart, lungs and thymus gland. The heart chakra is also the gateway to our Higher Astral Body. It is the center of love and compassion, relationships and self acceptance. It supports your heart, lungs, upper torso, shoulders and arms and hands. Your Heart Chakra may be weak if you: Are guarded and closed and rarely allow yourself to open up to others; sabotage your relationships with distrust and anger; are unable to let a situation rest because it didn’t go your way; are clingy and needy in relationships and anxious that your partner doesn’t’ need you as much as you need them; experience heart disorders, chest pain, asthma, allergies and circulation problems.

The Spleen Chakra also has both a front and back aspect. The front spleen chakra is located near the left lowermost rib, or what is called the floating rib. This chakra is important because it draws in prana, assimilates it, and distributes it to the other chakras. Healers/health professionals usually get drained by their patients through the spleen chakra. This chakra is often blocked in depressed patients.
The Meng Mein chakra or “gate of life”, is located on the back between the kidneys directly opposite the navel chakra. This acts as a pumping station for energy from the basic/root chakra. It affects the kidneys, adrenal glands and upper urinary tract, and directly controls the blood pressure.
The Solar Plexus Chakra like the heart and spleen chakras, has a front and back aspect. This is your personal power and ability to channel. The front Solar Plexus chakra is located in the soft area just below the sternum or breastbone and controls the stomach, pancreas, intestines and diaphragm. The Solar Plexus chakra is the seat of lower emotions, it deals with issues of willpower, ambition and action. This chakra is easily agitated by negative emotions so it constantly has to be cleansed and normalized to prevent a person from having a chaotic life. Your Solar Plexus Chakra may be weak if you: See yourself as powerless and struggle with self-esteem issues; have different ways of shaming yourself and feel embarrassed by what people think of you; feel like a victim in the world, and often feel powerless to circumstances and other people’s desires; suffer from frequent stomach pains and stomach anxiety.
The Navel Chakra is located at the belly button area. It controls the large and small intestines and affects the birth process. Below it is our energy reservoir called the “Dantien” or you’ll hear me refer to this as the Hara when I’m talking about getting your Head, your Heart and your Hara in flow.
The Sacral Chakra is located on the pubic bone. This is where we awaken our kundalini energy. Located in our hips, sacrum and genitals. It is where we experience the joys of intimacy, creativity, pleasure, our desires and sexuality. Your Sacral Chakra may be weak if you: Struggle to see yourself as “sexy” and sometimes wonder how anyone could desire you; Find it difficult to open up in relationships; Have a tendancy to end up in sexually incompatible relationships and find yourself wondering if you’ll ever find the one; Rarely have the time or desire to have sex.
The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine, at the tailbone or coccyx. This is the most common chakra to be weakened. It deals with physical survival, safety, security, fear and insecurity. Your Root Chakra may be weak if you: Feel a general lack of physical energy and vitality; are stuck in an unfulfilling and unrewarding career Find that your well-being is highly dependent upon external circumstances; Believe that money creates security; Suffer from eating disorders, adrenal fatigue, foot and leg pains/injuries, rectal or colon problems, immune disorders or bone disorders. This critical chakra is also directly related to one’s ability to make money and be successful. Without a strong basic chakra, spiritual practitioners have a tendency to “space out” and not accomplish success in their life both materially and spiritually.
The picture shows the major chakras on the front and back of the body. You will see the little chakra on the hand. This is why I hold my hand up when I’m coaching someone using the Energy Alignment Method, I can tell when the energy has shifted!
Taking Care of Your Chakras.
There are many ways you can take care of your Chakra’s, through energy healing, through meditation, use of crystals and aromatherapy.

Using the Energy Alignment Method, you can ask your inner guidance system if your chakra’s are open and spinning in the right direction, and if they aren’t you can release the resistance in them and align to them being open and spinning.
Visit a Pranic Healer for a spring clean! This can be done in person or distantly.
Nurture your chakras with foods that feed that chakra.

Choose a crystal to balance your chakra. You can wear these on you or carry them with you.
For your Crown Chakra choose white or violet crystals such as clear quartz, amethyst and clear topaz for balancing.
For your Third Eye Chakra choose dark blue crystals such as blue tigers eye, lapis and dumortierite for balancing.
For your Throat Chakra choose a light blue crystal such as blue lace agate, turquoise, and blue kyanite.
For your Heart Chakra choose green or pink crystals such as rose quartz, green fluorite, and rhodochrosite.
For your Solar Plexus choose yellow crystals such as citrine, yellow jasper and golden calcite to balance.
For your Sacral Chakra choose orange crystals such as carnelian, organ calcite, and orange garnet are good.
For your Root Chakra choose red or black crystals such as garnet, ruby and black tourmaline.
